Monochromatique (2020-21)
Monochromatique i, ii, iii is a monochromatic art series in which I explore how much a single color can convey within a work of art. While working with CYM(K) as a basis for all printed colors, I wondered: What story does each color have to tell us? Where doe these colors appear in nature? Where is this color derived from?

In turn, I took each of the CYM (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta) colors and isolated them into a single color within the work to identify the true nature of the color. The result is Monochromatique i, ii, iii.

Daydream is proudly owned by and on display at NYC Smile Spa.
Monochromatique i: jour jaune
In the first of the monochromatic series, jour jaune (yellow) provides an obvious source of color from nature. Yellow is often associated as a color of life, light, and warmth with its close affiliation to the sun. As a primary color, it is all around us, whether it be in flowers, food, or animals. In this work, the sun's rays overtake every plane and corner of the panel.

Monochromatique ii: l'eau bleu
In the second monochromatic series, l'eau bleu (cyan) comes with another fairly obvious message regarding where blue is found in nature: water. Blue is ubiquitous in celestial and earthly planes as the sky is most often associated with blue. Nevertheless, water is essential to life, and seas, rivers, streams, lakes, and oceans provide a livelihood for life on Earth. This work exhibits various wave patterns of water, all of which accumulate at the central large wave, as if with the force of a tsunami.

Monochromatique iii: la magenta
In the third of the monochromatic series, la magie magenta (magenta) might be the most mysterious color among CYM as it relates to nature. While it may be found in some flowers or animals, the color itself is pretty elusive so it was a challenge to develop a natural pattern for it. Nevertheless, the mystical, magical, and mysterious qualities of magenta moved this work toward a modern interpretation of the magical magenta.
